The Digital Literacy Program
Digital literacy refers to the everyday skill of using technology confidently and safely. It helps people find trustworthy information, communicate respectfully online, protect their privacy, and take part in an increasingly digital world.
Digital literacy skills are vital to get ahead and succeed, impacting everything from job opportunities to finances and personal security. Having access to technology and a stable internet connection is not enough, users must be able to think critically and navigate across apps, websites, and devices.
Digital Navigators
Digital Navigators are a part of the team dedicated to customer education. Not only do they provide technical support to Pharr Connect customers, they also guide and empower Pharr residents to manage their network & devices.
Along with the Curriculum Coordinators, the Digital Navigators provide additional support in the Digital Literacy Program classes, and ensure students receive the information and attention they need. Along with the program, they are part of a larger initiative to bridge the digital divide by providing technology education to Pharr Residents.
Internship Program
In collaboration with the Pharr-San Juan-Alamo school district and South Texas College, the City of Pharr’s Innovation & Technology department has opened its doors to students looking to get ahead with hands-on experience in the technology field.
With our internship program, students have the opportunity to shadow industry professionals and get a feel for the day-to-day operations of the City’s technology department, giving them an edge in their future careers.
Pharr Connect U

PossAable Dream
The City of Pharr partnered with PossAble Dream Adult High School, an organization dedicated to opening career pathways for adults ages 18-55, including rural residents. This partnership creates an on-ramp back into education and directly into workforce training.
The Pharr Connect Digital Literacy Program was proud to collaborate with PossAble Dream Adult High School by offering free computer courses to students. These courses support participants as they work toward completing their high school education and preparing for successful careers in the workforce.
